Lead Software Engineer
Fair Square Medicare, Remote
- Wrote Medicare plan optimization and ranking algorithm to find customers the best Medicare plans based on their health profile. The algorithm captures enrollment leads and serves as the mission and vision of the company. Shipping the algorithm resulted in savings of $12,000/year by removing the need to pay for the service.
- Built and shipped the Health Atlas mobile app using React Native to allow healthcare administrators to instantly qualify leads by automating the process of manually researching a potential patient’s health care coverage. Leverages Machine Learning via Google Vision API & OCR to scan patient insurance cards and return plan coverage information.
- Automated new customer enrollment and existing customer re-enrollment by designing and implementing the online enrollment feature, utilizing the full stack - spanning database, backend, and front end. The feature removes the prerequisite of requiring new customers to speak with a sales agent and accounted for 75% of 2021 customer plan renewals.
- Built Async transactional email queue by leveraging Redis. The queue enables the company to independently manage and track email communications and eliminates the reliance on MailChimp and other email services.
- Implemented SSO in 1 week by learning SAML, enabling FairSquare to become an identity provider to allow clients to access an insurance plan shopping hosted site.
- Directly collaborates with the CEO to design products and features to improve the customer experience.
- Mentors a junior engineer by providing code reviews, pair programming, and strategic project execution.

- Integrated ordered form inside of a Django template for end users to rank partner preferences for pair programming exercises.
- Implemented Irving’s stable-roommate algorithm to ensure optimization of pairing preferences.
- Wrote all model factories with Django’s factory_boy to streamline the testing process and presented a comprehensive testing strategy to increase testing coverage.
- Added email notifications using signals and Django’s built-in admin views for important actions and events as UX enhancement.

I spend my free time at home enjoying the company of my partner and our Goldendoodle. Guests in our home can expect a home-cooked meal, a cozy place to watch some Netflix, a fluffy cuddle buddy, and conversation that will almost end up on an unintended tangent.
Outside of the home I enjoy rock-climbing and exploring the wonderful cuisine San Francisco has to offer.
